Duke in Durham
Working together, past and present
Duke is committed to preserving the vital history of its home city with Digital Durham, a website that offers students, teachers and researchers a wide range of source material from the 1870s through the 1920s. The University Archives also offer a range of resources for studying the relations between the university and city.
For the past two decades, Duke’s Community
Service Center and
other programs have provided opportunities to thousands of Duke students
to serve in Durham.
A new initiative, Duke
Engage, will provide even more opportunities for students to
get involved in their local community.
“Duke’s commitment to establish DukeEngage will not only transform the lives of Duke students and prepare them for productive lives of service, but it promises to help transform the lives of people throughout our community,” Durham Mayor William Bell says.
Finally, Duke’s News & Communications department highlights ongoing efforts in community outreach and partnership.
